Bluespec is high-level hardware description language developed at Sandburst Corp., based on syntactic and semantic ideas from Haskell and Term Rewriting Systems. Lennart Augustsson has already described the language at WG2.8 and at ICFP in 2001. In this talk I will describe our experiences in introducing such a language into an industrial ASIC design environment-- particularly the technical and educational challenges in fitting it within the larger established processes of ASIC design.
