Until August 2002, we lived in New Haven, Connecticut. Our home was a converted carriage-house built sometime during the 19th century. It was small, but it was beautiful. Inside was mostly just one large room with a high peaked ceiling (16 feet at the top). We had a fantastically large window that faced south and we looked up through it to warming winter sunlight, sprouting tree-tops of spring, gorgeously green leaves in summer and all the colours of the fall.
The bathroom was very small, but we had a large walk-in closet. We had a small upstairs loft (looking over the main room) which we used as a guest-room for visitors. We even had a miniture balcony, on which Leila liked to sit and have her breakfast in the sun.
