Giovanna's Italian Adventures

This is the first piece of the trip report. For the next one you'll have to wait 'til my cousin and I get back together, but it shouldn't take a long while since I am going to see him before the end of April.

Click on the small images to see the larger pictures.

Figure 1: Picture of the tower we climbed on the first day. It's called Boccioleto, from the name of the village nearby. The "normal" route we did is one of the easiest, but it is still really really nice. You'll find a scheme of the climb on the left. Numbers are in metres, not in feet, and also the difficulty of the climb is arted with the European system. I am sorry about that, but I hope it's not a big deal.

Figure 2: Me and Roberto, my younger cousin, on the way up in one of the first pitches. Enrico, my older cousin, is climbing first and belaying both of us.

Figures 3 & 4: Two nice pictures of the three of us from the top of the tower. In the image at the left, Roberto and me are reading the comments made by other climbers in the log book that we found on the top.

Figure 5: Gio double-roping (rappelling) on the way down from the tower.

Figures 6 & 7: Map and picture of the second climb. Nine pitches, max diff. 6a, once again in european units. That is a very good climb. You would love it. There's also a very nice garden exactly at half (way) of the climb where you can rest and have lunch.

Figures 8, 9 & 10: My cousin is climbing first and I am second. Today it's only the two of us. My cousin finds time to take pictures, and here are three shots of me going up. From the top of the climb you can walk down. There's also a very small and old village that you cross on the way down, and some old people still live there.

That's it for now, stay tuned for more! Looking forward to seeing all of you again in May!
Ciao,
             Gio.
